Age - 4-8
Audience - mainly boys

Thomas the Tank engine, by Wilbolt Awdry idea of books is based on his childhood, i find this meaningful and realistic, as it comes from his childhood its the best way of connecting within a young audience, but with the link being bad train and a punishment, dark but children loved the stories. Illustrator William Middleton.

Why i have chosen this illustrator is because William Middleton only added a face to an normal train, no arms no legs but simple face and face expressions captured the audience (children) enough to make meaningful things that were loved. its simple expressions give the audience everything they need to know, how they should feel about reading or hearing the story,  "power" interesting that is capture so many children with only two things that make them relatable - a face and a voice, the voice benign the writing and the face being the illustrations, one visual relations that children can understand as so much power within the story.

My thought on the artist style is the same as it was when i was a children watching the tv program and reading the books was that the style was hash and a little too grown up for the audience for example the images below i found there to be unnecessarily detail and the face to be too shaded, i alway felt it was sinister and dark, looking back at it know i see that the story was too.
